Welcome to Suren House, a New York townhouse concept by Shirley Gouw Interior. This is where we process our creative mind into reality . Inspired by iconic New York Brownstone townhouse, with limited land space of 360 sqm is built to fulfill Shirley’s concept of design.While the vassard interior is adorned with beautiful English design. Influenced by her time spent in London and New York during her study, these elements play a big part in her design.
A delicate contrast between New York’s brownstone inspired- architecture with the bright white English interior design serves as the first element of surprise in Suren House. The foyer room. The first area you walk in with platy of sunlight. The walls are decorated with limestone detail.A transitional hallway from the foyer to parlor room, welcomed by two beautiful architraves. Taking inspiration from the English classic design, this area is covered with limestone wall cladding and marble flooring. The combination of shapes, architectural elements, details, and furnishings has transformed our mind into classic English mansion.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, so does this parlor room in Suren House. Enriched with so many intriguing details that caught everyone’s attention, from the ceiling crown mouldings, wooden panels, to mirrored wall, and wooden floors with marble borders, these elements arecarefully designed to bring the sense of English classic that is full of decorative ornaments.
Suren House’s guest room is cozy and warm. With wood paneling details and parquet floor, the shutters for windowtreatment is custom-made to match. The whole ambiance of this room referencing to the English style interiors.Shirley believes that every design speaks for itself. This guest room for the example, shows an intimate mood that form bythe wooden wall panel and warm color palette. While the mirrored wall was designed to give a spacious impact to the room.
Shirley creates this breakfast room bright and fresh. The appearance of bay-window overlooking the courtyard is a perfect idea to allow good air circulation and add sunlight into the room. An all-white and muted neutral colors are polished throughout the room to give a serenity mood while having a light refreshment here.The beauty is in the details. The interior displays meticulous features, including crown moulding ceiling and engraved marble for the flooring and wall.
Shirley opts for floor to ceiling folding shutter window instead of using curtain to cover the window. It is a creative solution to cover the window at nightwhile still allowing natural light into the room, as well as providing good air circulation.The groin vault ceiling complemented with monochromatic floor pattern becomes the focal point in the hallway. This combination adds elegance into the room.
The dining room is designed to reminisce the chinoiserie style. Furniture pieces and accessories, such as chandeliers, ancient Chinese-inspired cabinet, and Chippendale chairs also strengthen the concept.Shirley also handpicked accessories to adorn thetable, including Pagoda sculptures and crystal candle holders as centrepieces, as well as dinnerware sets. They portray Chinoiserie concept in a modern andstylish look.
The combination of white and grey marble creates a bright and light mood for this classic English kitchen in Suren House. This color combination is chosen to make the room spacious and brighter feel. Antique blue and white chine vases are on display on the shelves to give a beautiful pop of color to the space that is dominated with white interior. They adorn the classic English kitchen style in Suren House.
The courtyard in Suren House is located in in between the living room, dining room, and breakfast area. It allows more natural light and provides naturalventilation in the house. The classic wall fountain and greeneries in the courtyard channel English garden and create a serene ambience.
Another focal point in Suren House can be seen in this staircase. This sensuouscurve handrail is mimicking the woodenbranch continuously to three levelstorey. It stands beautifully as asculpture piece.
High ceiling can be a perfect spot to show a luxurious image. Surrounded by refined ceiling pattern and crown mouldings, this staircase area is embellished with a grandeur chandelierand a huge wall antique-finished mirror. This presentation gives another wow factor to Suren House.
The contrasting color in this living room is giving pretty balance in Suren House. All of the furniture, accessories and interior elements are accentuated perfectly to adorn the classic English style.
A bold marble pattern is chosen for the powder room to create a beautiful contrast to the other bathrooms in the house.
Pairing antique style bookshelves and wood parquet flooring and paneling create an inviting atmosphere in this home library.
The guest bedroom doubles the function as a reading room and guest bedroom. The room is dominated by wood paneling and parquet flooring. Shirley also chose a sliding door over a swing door to allow an open view of the living room.
